According to a PCB official, Amir, a permanent resident of the United Kingdom, applied for an Ireland visa along with the team but encountered delays in the processing of his application. While the rest of the squad obtained their visas in time for the travel, Amir’s visa approval was not finalized, resulting in his stay in Pakistan.

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) is actively engaging with Cricket Ireland to resolve the visa issue. An ESPNcricinfo report indicated that the responsibility for facilitating and providing visas on time ultimately lies with the host board. Given the imminent nature of the tour, comprising three T20Is scheduled from May 10 to 14, Amir’s participation remains uncertain.

Another Member Of The Pakistan Management

As of now, there is no specific timeline regarding the expected issuance of Amir’s visa. Another member of the Pakistan management, Mohammad Yousaf, also experienced a delay in visa approval but managed to obtain it just in time to accompany the squad. While the exact cause of Amir’s visa delay remains unclear, the PCB maintains that he submitted his application concurrently with the rest of the team.

Amir, a seasoned cricketer, has previous experience playing in Ireland. Notably being part of Pakistan’s squad during Ireland’s inaugural Test match in 2018. Despite retiring from international cricket in 2020, Amir reversed his decision earlier this year and made a comeback, featuring in Pakistan’s recent home series against New Zealand after a four-year hiatus from international games.
