Yousaf Razzaq Wahab Shafique And Analyst In PCBs 7-Member, The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formed a seven-member senior selection committee by having four former Test cricketers in the panel but without a chairman.

The PCB has also included a data analyst, seemingly a novel move, as a member of the committee that includes Mohammad Yousuf, Abdul Razzaq, and Asad Shafiq. The captain and coach of the national team will be part of the committee that also has Wahab Riaz, who was the chairman of selectors till recently.

The Formation of The New Selection Committee

The formation of the new selection committee was announced by new PCB chairman Mohsin Naqvi at a media conference at the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore. However, it is still not clear who are the captains and coaches of the national teams – in white ball particularly. The PCB is believed to be in search of a foreign coach. A couple of candidates on the PCB wish list are those who have worked in India in various capacities.

Shan Masood is the captain in Tests but Pakistan’s immediate international engagements are only in T20 format culminating with the Twenty20 World Cup in the US and the Caribbean in June. “I have mandated the seven-member selection committee. It consists of four former Test players, with the power to select the national men’s teams for international cricket. I will not interfere with the working of the selection committee. They are experienced and professional in their domain.

So I am confident that they will do their job with dedication and honesty. But PCB chairman Naqvi was quoted by the local media as saying.

Although Shaheen Shah Afridi was previously announced as the T20I captain. But his confirmation for the upcoming matches is pending.

Pakistan’s upcoming schedule includes a five-match T20I series against New Zealand at home from April 18 to 27. So followed by fixtures in Ireland and England before the World Cup.

PCB chairman Naqvi emphasized the autonomy of the selection committee. If stating “I will not interfere with the working of the selection committee.
